Project type, size and location: Renovation, decoration and furnishing of a 16 meter square (one room!) rental apartment, Boulogne-Bilancourt, Greater Paris
Difficulties overcome: Creation of a functional studio apartment that works like a living room during the day, and is a comfortable bedroom at night.

Before: View from the front door, lovely bright space!
After: In a small space such as this, storage is key! So in the entrance there is shoe storage as well as hooks for coats and scarves and shelves for bags and hats. The idea here is to keep all of those belongings in the entrance so that they don't crowd the main room.
Before: Very little storage space for the small kitchen.
After: We installed more storage for the kitchen so that it would be easier to keep clean and tidy - important as it's open and part of the main room. We also equiped it better with microwave, extractor fan, new fridge and hob as well as a clothes washer (hidden in a cupboard). The counter top is the same material as the desk, and the gold accents are continued.
Before: No built-in storage!
After: We installed a large built-in wardrobe which will store all of the tenants clothes. Two levels of hanging space to optimise space (longer items can be stored in the entrance!) and a high wide shelf at the top to store suitcases.
After: A fold-away dining table saves space, and retro stools (surprisingly comfortable!) can be stored under the desk if needed. These stools also double as small tables if need be.
After: A custom desk and shelves were installed to make the most of the small space. The choice of colours is based on the inspiration images which my client gave me for this project. The same colours are used throughout the space to make it feel bigger.
After: 'Rapido' sofa bed with a proper mattress! This type of sofa bed is the easiest to open, you just pull a handle behind the back cushions and the bed unfolds. It also has space to store the pillows. So it can all be folded away easily and the space then feels like a living room again.
